The Doctor and Rose exit the Tardis talking about how the Tardis had locked onto an S.O.S signal and followed it to this location.
Not knowing where they are, they start looking around, and quickly find themselves in a large room with objects of unknown and alien origin. Including an arm from a Slitheen Alien, the alien race they had recently saved the Earth
from.
They then find themselves surrounded by army of soldiers. The Doctor is taken to a room where the signal had been originating from, when the lights turn on he finds himself face to face with his oldest enemy; the Daleks. At first The Doctor races toward the door, knowing full well how destructive the Daleks are.
Then figures out that its been damaged, and can't do much from a distance. The Doctor learns that it crashed years ago and was brought to the building.
The Doctor, not wanting to take a chance of it destroying more, switching on an electrical charge that's targeted at the Dalek. After only a few moments, the owner of the building switches off the charge, and has the Doctor taken away.
Shortly after, Rose feels sorry for the Dalek, not understanding why the Doctor was about to hurt a creature that is already hurt. So she puts her hand on the Dalek, the touch having been from someone that travels in the Tardis ends up rejuvenating it.
Rose escapes, though it brings through its chains and starts zapping people, leaving a trail of bodies. At one point it levitates in a room of soldiers, and zaps the fire alarm causing the sprinkler system to active. It then zaps the wet floor electrocuting nearly everyone in the room with one shoot.
Near the end, the Dalek corners Rose and threatens to shoot her, though in a strange turn, the Dalek has grown a conscious due to Rose's DNA. Rose who had moments earlier been fleeing from the Dalek, now stands between the Doctor and the Dalek.
Rose convinces the Doctor that the Dalek is starting to question itself.
