The Doctor gives Rose a brief description of where they are, so that Rose can impress the computer guy that brought along from the last time travel.
After giving the description to the computer genius, Rose quickly notices that it feels very warm in the Space Station.
The Doctor tells them that they are in the 5th great human dynasty, though is quickly shocked to find that things are not the way they should be...people hurrying around and being rude.
After showing Rose and the computer guy the Space Station window to show them the view of the Earth, the computer guy faints. A little while later the Doctor gives the computer guy credit stick to purchase food. Then goes to speak to the local workers and learns that the Space Station is the center for the Earth's news.
To gain workers trust he shows them a psychic paper that shows them what ever he wants them. Believing that he is from the top, they take him, Rose, and the computer genius on a tour. The Doctor is shown how they collect and distribute data in a collective way, one person with a computer in their forehead, others with a computer chip in the back of their heads.
As the Doctor and Rose look further into what is causing the oddities, they're invited to investigate level 500. Once there they find the alien responsible for the worlds condition. Before they know it, the Doctor and Rose are captives. That is until one worker becomes curious and help set them free. Which in turns allows Rose and the Doctor too set things right and ultimately elimanate the alien.
