As they are standing there trapped, the Doctor suddenly tells them, as though he were there mother, that he is cross with the child and for him to return to his room. After a moment the empty child, as if he had been standing in front of the doctor, stands still and then slowly walks out the door. As he walks away the people that had been trapping the Doctor, Rose, and Captain Jack, turn around and go back to their beds and chair.
The three of them leave the room to find out more about what had happened there. They soon find a room with drawings and other devices. The Doctor plays back an audio recording of the empty child.
Shortly after the playback finishes they all turn around to see the child talking to them.
They race out through a backwall with a device Captain Jack had. They then find themselves corned in the hallway and use Captain Jack's device to get to a lower floor.
Awhile later when their aboard Captain Jack's spaceship, they head toward the crash site of the vessel. Shortly after arriving they hear singing, and they find the girl handcuffed to a table next to a soldier with a gas mask that appeared to have fainted.
All four of them together hurry towards the vessel, to find it empty yet having set off an alarm. The Doctor recognizes the vessel as being a alien ambulance that uses nanotechnology to heal the wounded.
With the alarm bringing more gas masked people, he realizes that the girl is the key to the child. That the girl is the childs mother, The Doctor asks the girl to tell the child the truth, as she had previously made him think that she was his sister.
She walks up to him and tells him that she is his mother. She hugs him and the nanobots appear and from the DNA of the mother, change the child back to normal.
The Doctor goes up to the child and takes off the child's mask to see the child's true face, then hugs the child. The Doctor then uses the nanobots to change everyone with a gas mask back to normal.
He then asks Captain Jack to get rid of the bomb that will be landing in a few moments on the very spot there standing. He leaves and returns to stop the bomb just in time.
Rose and the Doctor leave and then find Captain Jack flying in another part the of Galaxy to pick him up before the bomb he attempted to dispose of explodes, as he couldn't get it out of his spaceship.
