The Autobots extinguish the fire surrounding the oilrig, then continue to rescue Spike, his father Sparkplug, and the rest of the Oilrig workers. Afterward, as a sign of gratitude, Spike and Sparkplug volunteer to help the Autobots.
Later, while walking back to the Autobot's volcanic base, Spike notices a tape recorder. Unaware of it's true nature, he sets it on a console inside the bases entrance. After Spike leaves the room, Soundwave unleashes Ravage to begin retrieving data.
Meanwhile, in another area of the base, the Autobot's provide Spike with a short demonstration of their transformation abilities. Hound then takes Spike on a scenic desert ride.
Upon return, Spike's alarmed when he sees Teletran acting unusual. Realizing they've been discovered, Soundwave and Ravage make their escape. Though, only Soundwave's successful, leaving Ravage with the Autobots.
Awhile later, Soundwave returns to Megatron and provides him with information about a potential energy source at Sherman Dam and its power plant. As the Decepticons begin their attack, Teletran alerts the Autobots, who in turn rushto stop their enemy.
As they arrive, a short battle begins, with Megatron and Prime at the lead in a face-off, at which time Megatron boasts with one of his favorite lines No one can stop me now.Though the face-off is short lived when Prime becomes distracted by Spike’s cry for help. This allows Megatron to knock Prime into the water so he can escape.
After the Decepticons retreat from the battle, they discover they still require addition fuel for their trip back to Cybertron. They decide too strike the “Ruby Crystal mines of Berma” and a military rocket fuel base.
As the Decepticons begin emptying the mine, Bumble Bee and Spark Plug place a bomb inside. Yet, prior to escaping they're discovered and caught.
Concerned; Prime parks outside the mines entrance and sends Roller in to search for the missing comrades. However, moments later the bomb explodes, blasting debris and smoke out the mines entrance, catching Prime by surprise; as he's sent tumbling down the mountain.
